Cased gilt and enamel Grand Duchy Hesse-Darmstadt Order Of Philip The Magnanimous, I Class Commander, Circa 1910. The obverse with a medallion bearing the leftward facing bust of Philip the Magnanimous in Gold, surrounded by a white enameled ring inscribed SI DEUS NOBISCUM QUIS CONTRA NOS (If God is with us, who is against us) in gold, the reverse with a medallion bearing a rampant lion in multi-colored enamels, surrounded by a ring of white enamels, inscribed LUDOVIUS III MAGN, DUX HASSIAE. Instituted on 1 May 1840 by Louis II, Grand Duke of Hesse.
