AUCTION 29: MILITARY ORDERS, DECORATIONS, ARMS AND ARMOR
A rare decorated version of the (Applicanten) (Cadet) Bayonet was issued to apprentices of NCO rank who were in training for administrative and technical assignments. Gilt brass hilt and crossguard bearing an anchor and cabestan-shaped finials. The handle has a finely made imperial crown at the top, and the spine is covered with oak leaves decorations. Black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts, finely decorated with oak leaves and fish scales style design. Double-edged blade with two fullers on each side and rectangle-shaped etched plate, most likely the owner’s name would have been engraved there. The original red felt blade buffer is in place.
