Mustered into service 1861, 3 year regt. After 3 yrs remainder transferred to 40th NYVI. Nickname they chose at their origin was ‘2nd Regiment Scott’s Life Guard’. (General Scott was the Union Commander and highest General at the time. Fought in a number of the early battles.) Cloth, silk, leather, silver gimp (French cannetile), metal; stamping.
