Marked on the blade rib "aout 1816" August 1816 with a massive single-edged curved gilded blade decorated with an engraving of an artillery motif, brass hilt, metal scabbard engraved with "MANUFACTURE KLINGENTHAL" near throat with two loose suspension rings.

This sabre de honour used to be awarded for acts of bravery. Later the saber (sword) was replaced by Napoleon for the Legion of Honour medal.

This sword model was made by a number of famous French sword manufacturers including the most famous Nicolas Boutet of Versailles. From that shop came out the Sabres d’honneur distributed by Napoleon and many superior officers ordered their swords from it.
