A large Caucasian dagger presented to the Colonel of the 3rd Kuban Plastun Regiment Alexander Vasilyavich Krasnopivcev. Footnote: Krasnopevtsev Alexander Vasilievich (June 26, 1857 -?) Biography: Russian Orthodox, educated at the gymnasium. He entered the service on June 27, 1873. Graduated from the Moscow Infantry Cadet School. Graduated as an NCO of the 15th Grenadadier Tiflis Regiment. Participated in the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-78. Participated in the Campaign of 1881, wounded and shell-shocked. Second lieutenant (art. 16.06.1881). Lieutenant (order 1884; Art. Feb. 11, 1884 for distinction). Polesaul (Art. October 28, 1892). Esaul (Project 1895; Art. 05/06/1895 for distinction). Graduated from the Officers’ School. Military Petty Officer (Art. 28.11.1902). Member of the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-05. Colonel (Order 1906; Art. Feb. 25, 1905; for military distinctions). Commander of the 9th Kuban Plastun Benefit Battalion (Sept. 19 – December 12, 1906). Commander of the 3rd Kuban Plastun Battalion (December 16, 1906 – Jan. 24, 1911). Commander of the 208th Loriyskiy Infantry Regiment (from January 24, 1911). A veteran of World War I. Commander of the 2nd Kuban Plastun Brigade (from Feb. 28, 1915), transferred at the beginning of 1916 from the European theater to the Caucasus. Major General (April 03, 915; Art. October 26, 1914; for military merit) with the approval of the brigade chief. July 29, 1916, released due to illness to the reserve ranks at the headquarters of the Caucasian Military District. Commander of the 10th Turkestan Rifle Division (Jan. 11 – May 20, 1917). Member of the White Movement in the South of Russia. Ranks: January 1, 1909 – 3rd Kuban Plastun battalion, colonel, the battalion commander.

Condition: Good overall with a few dents on silver mounts, niello is well preserved, the blade is its original shape and has been re-sharpened
