A fine example of an early 18th C. Indian firangi of rather a unique hilt design. The typical khanda hilt is of finer quality than usual with a beautiful wootz pattern visible in the windows of the upper part of the hilt. The guard of the hilt is also pierced and open with an arrow design of fine quality and delicate execution. The grip is wrapped in twisted silver wire. The blade is wootz of the firangi style with a pattern visible throughout. It is not very common to have a wootz firangi blade of fine flexible dimensions, as most of these were European imported blades.

Dimensions: L: 42 1/4 in., (107.5 cm.)

Condition: The hilt retains most of the gold inlay (koftgari), the grip twisted steel wire is loose, the blade is in good shape and shows a nice wootz pattern throughout
