Portrait of Mazeppa attributed to Nikolay Rachkov (Russian, 1825 – 1895). Oil on board, signed in Cyrillic "Rachkov" in the lower left corner. Inscribed on the back: "Painted by Rachkov about 1800 of Mazeppa Leader of Ukaraine who betrayed Peter the Great / Written about by Pushkine in "Poltava." Presented in an ornate painted carved wood and gesso frame. Provenance: Aspire Auctions, Dec 7, 2017, Lot 36.
