AUCTION 32: APRIL 2022 DECORATIVE AND FINE ART SALE
Signed bottom right, numbered 92/150 A series of 8 silkscreen-lithographs that are signed and numbered by artist Ilya Shenker. The gift was donated by Sandra Genter to the Jerome Robbins Dance Division possibly in 2013. The lithograph depicts a scene from "The Firebird" Ballet, a couple dancing in the center. the ballet was orchestrated by Igor Stravinsky and was written for the 1910 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes company. The original choreography was done by Michel Fokine, who collaborated with Alexandre Benois on a scenario based on the Russian fairy tales of the Firebird and its blessing and curse on its owner.
