A pair of antique early 19th-century French Empire-style sugar tongs decorated with repousse hand-engraved floral motifs and images of a cherub leaning on a pedestal with an inscription: "Frieden Den 30 May 1814." On one side is a side-bust portrait of General Von Blucher. The decorative motifs of the tongs are probably dedicated to the signing of the peace treaty in Paris in 1814. The Treaty of Paris, signed on 30 May 1814, ended the war between France and the Sixth Coalition, part of the Napoleonic Wars, following an armistice signed on 23 April between Charles, Count of Artois, and the allies. Weight: 1.2 oz., 34 gr.
