Francesco Zuccarelli (Italian, English, 1702 – 1788), an antique oil on canvas Italianate landscape with figures beside a stream and ruins at the distance. Please refer to the original Alexander Gallery paper labels on the back. Giacomo Francesco Zuccarelli was an Italian artist of the late Baroque or Rococo period. His Arcadian views became popular throughout Europe and especially in England where he resided for two extended periods. In 1768, Zuccarelli became a founding member of the Royal Academy of Arts, and upon his final return to Italy, he was elected president of the Venetian Academy.
