Jan Verkolje (Dutch, 1650 – 1693), oval oil on canvas painting depicting Salome with the head of John the Baptist. Jan Verkolje was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and engraver. He is mainly known for his portraits and genre pieces of elegant couples in interiors and for his religious and mythological compositions.
