Russian Imperial St. George Cross, I Class, c.1915, constructed of gilded bronze, on the suspension loop from its period original ribbon. The central obverse medallion depicts a raised image of St. George, and the reverse depicts the Cyrillic monogram of Saint George. Marked No. 5 on the left arm, and 650 on the right arm. Also marked with the Cyrillic letters "G" and "M" for "Yellow alloy (metal)." Originally established on November 26, 1769, Julian (December 7, 1769, Gregorian) was the highest military decoration of the Russian Empire for commissioned officers and generals by Empress Catherine the Great.
