Sir William Allan (British 1782-1850), oil on board painting "Circassian Captives, " 1816, depicting a scene of the sale of Circassian captives to a Turkish Bashaw or Pacha, 1816. Housed in a gilt wood and gesso period frame. Sir William Allan was a distinguished Scottish historical painter known for his scenes of Russian life. He became president of the Royal Scottish Academy and was made a Royal Academician.
Dimensions: 16 1/4 x 24 1/8 in., (41.2 x 61.2 cm.)
Condition: Very good with expected signs of wear.
