Johannes Dorflinger (German, born 1941), a limited-edition color lithograph print featuring a design for the ‘Hierophant’ Tarot card, London, May 10, 1988. Signed by the artist on the lower left, inscribed on the lower margin, also inscribed and dated verso. Matted and framed. Footnote: Tarot motives have been a recurrent theme of Dörflinger’s work since the 1970s. In 1975 he produced a set of 22 lithographs illustrating the Major Arcane of the Tarot. He has received numerous awards and scholarships, and his works can be found in many renowned museums all over the world, including the Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Albertina in Vienna, and the Tate Gallery in London.
