The etching depicts the scene of a battle between French and Spanish troops that happened as a part of the Italian War (1536-1538) where the question of who would rule over northern Italy was being solved. The author applauds French King Francis I and his "invincible" army.The etching is by Antonio Tempesta, (Firenze 1555 – Rome 1630).Ca. 1613.
