A round striped mask (kifwebe) was created in the Zaire River Basin area. These masks are a significant ritual object that symbolizes order in society. The ordered lines that cover the mask are associated with purity, positive energy. Colors have a symbolic meaning: black is associated with magical powers, red means blood, fire, but also courage and knowledge. White is for goodwill.
Dimensions: 4 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 2 in. (12 x 11.5 x 5 cm.)
Condition: Very good, adequate wear
