Hemba is a cult figurine of a woman of the Baman (Bambara) nationality. Similar figures are presented in all major museums in the world. The woman depicted in this sculpture symbolizes life, birth, fertility, and is an object of worship. A similar sacred figure would be placed on an ancestral family altar. She served as a talisman and embodied the knowledge of the ancestors.
Dimensions: 24 x 7 x 6 in., (60.96 x 17.78 x 15.24 cm.)
Condition: Good condition with light scratches and small chips.
