RUSSIAN AND WESTERN EUROPEAN DECORATIVE ART
A Russian bronze figurine "The Vityaz on the Horseback" by Eugeny Lansere. Bronze, casting, chasing, patination. Signed on the pedestal "LEPIL E. LANSERE" and "F. SHOPEN" (Cyrillic). Eugeny Lansere often used fabulous epic motifs in his work and sought to combine contemporary aesthetics with poetic images of antiquity. A figure of a hero, probably, Ilya Muromets, is very expressive and seems to exude confidence. The beauty of the mighty horse with a long mane is also expressively shown. Lansere skillfully uses the plastic possibilities of bronze, a material that can be delicately processed, almost like jewelry.
