Of finest quality Kindjal of a rare type of "Muhajir-settlers from the Caucasus to Ottoman Empire" daggers. That type of dagger was made on the territory of the Ottoman Empire and as a rule, would be equipped with plain black leather-covered scabbards. This specimen is a rarity. Work of the Circassian style with a smooth niello, engraving in gilding in a suit to the gold mounts of the handle. On the back side of the scabbard mount, there is an inscription in Arab: "Sahib Haji Arslan Agha", year 99, in Hijri (1299) 1881. Because of the dagger quality, it is safe to assume the owner was not an ordinary man but a wealthy person, especially during Haji (at that time going on a hajj was a great achievement that required expenses and efforts) and with the respectable addition of the title Aga (Ottoman. أغا‎, Tur. ağa, Persian آقا‎ from Türkic aga – "elder brother" – in some countries of the East (Ottoman Empire, Safavid state, etc.) a form of addressing a senior in rank, a designation of tribal nobility and a title. In the Ottoman Empire, the title Aga was used as the title of military leaders including the commander of the Janissaries yeniçeri ağası, and the sipahis – sipahi ağası, as well as the heads of some groups of court servants. After the liquidation of the Janissaries in 1826, it was a name given to the junior and middle officers of the Ottoman army.
