Russian Orthodox icon of Christ Pantocrator, Moscow, ca. 1833. Oil painting on gesso and wood with silver riza or oklad featuring hand-chased and polychrome cloisonne enamel details. According to the canon, Jesus is depicted in a simple robe, holding in his left hand an orb and a scepter, as symbols of supreme power while his right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing. Hallmarks: FER (Cyrillics), 84, ND (Cyrillic), 1833, kokoshnik.
