Russian Orthodox icon of Christ Pantocrator, Moscow, ca. 1835. Oil painting on gesso and wood with silver riza or oklad featuring hand-chased details. According to the canon, Jesus is depicted in a simple robe, holding in his left hand an orb and a scepter, as symbols of supreme power while his right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing. Hand-inscribed verso. Hallmarks: 84, date 1841, Moscow, SS (Cyrillic)
